Hot Water System Repairs, Service & Maintenance

HeatCool are specialists in the installation, service and repair of home and office hot water systems.

We’ve all experienced it – the most dreaded of situations while taking a shower. The hot water cuts off and turns ice cold. Occasionally the heat returns within seconds, but if it has simply stopped working, it is probably time to have your system serviced.

We provide hot water services to your system to make certain you have a steady supply of hot water at home whenever you need it. Irrespective of a storage or a continuous flow water heater system, our hot water repair professionals will have you back up and running in no time.

Keeping The Heat UP!

Hot water heaters are typically NOT a huge investment. If they’re maintained and looked after, there’s no reason why you should be getting 10+ years from your heater, even in coastal areas like Rye, Mornington, The Bay Area, Melbourne and Surrey Hills.

Hot Water Heater Maintenance

When you first purchase your hot water heater, flush the tank every week or 10 days for the first three months after the heater is installed. The flush assists with clearing sediment which reduces the lifespan of the equipment.

Contact us for a step by step guide on how to do this flush.

Thereafter flush the hot water system every 6 months.

If you would prefer a professional to do the process for you, book an appointment with our service team today.

(Sacrificial) Anode Rod Checks

A sacrificial anode is a metal dowel rod that is positioned in the centre of a hot water tank. This clever invention reduces corrosion of the tank by attracting minerals to it instead. Areas that have ‘hard water’ may see a faster degradation on tank anodes. This is normal.

As the name suggests, it ‘sacrifices’ itself for the tank, meaning the anode will become the first line of defence against internal corrosion.

The anode should be checked a year after the heater is installed. Thereafter, a check every three years should suffice. If it looks overly corroded then it is time for a new anode.

Always seek a hot water professional to do the inspection and replacement for you. You can book an appointment with our service team today.

Servicing Of A Hot Water System

Essentially maintenance will prolong the life of your hot water system.

Valves, filters, anodes, thermostats can and do fault over time, so regular servicing (like you would with your car) will serve you well.

Of course, you can do the less-technical things yourself. Like:

  • Keep leaves and debris away from the unit.
  • Give the system a flush from time-to-time.
  • Use the TPR valve to make sure it’s still operational.

For anything beyond that, it’s best to give us a call. An annual service should be scheduled with a professional technician service for your heat pump, solar heating, electric, or gas heating system.

The technician can do the following:

  • Inspect panels and/or ducts, valves, anodes, filters, blower, and indoor coil for dirt and other obstructions
  • Measure the airflow
  • Check for correct refrigerant charge by measurement
  • Flush the system
  • Inspect electric terminals, and, if necessary, apply non-conductive coating
  • Add lubricant to motors, and inspect belts for wear
  • Check for correct electric control
  • Check the thermostat operation
